Parent & Caregiver Connection

A Support and Resource Group at LIFE Mower County

Are you a parent or caregiver of a child or adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)? You're not alone. The Parent & Caregiver Connection is a welcoming space where families come together to share experiences, find support, and gain valuable information.

Through bi-monthly gatherings, we offer:
  • Peer support from others who understand your journey
  • Educational sessions on topics that matter to you (guardianship, financial planning, mental health, and more)
  • Guest speakers and local resource partners
  • A chance to connect, learn, and recharge in a supportive environment

Whether you're navigating a new diagnosis, planning for the future, or simply looking for a community that understands--you belong here.

All parents and caregivers are welcome.

SPARKS
Supporting Play, Activities, Respite, Knowledge, and Socialization

At LIFE Mower County, we know how important it is for caregivers to have time to recharge—and for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to enjoy fun, safe, and engaging activities. That’s why we’re excited to offer SPARKS, a  respite program that provides both!

Held bi-monthly, SPARKS gives participants a chance to connect with friends, explore their creativity, and enjoy structured play in a supportive environment. Whether it’s arts and crafts, games, sensory activities, or social time, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

SPARKS is staffed by caring, trained professionals who understand the needs of individuals with I/DD and are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive space. While participants have fun and build friendships, caregivers can take a few hours for themselves—rest, run errands, or simply breathe a little easier.

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to enrich your loved one’s weekend while also giving yourself a well-deserved break, SPARKS may be the perfect fit!
