Planned Giving

Planned giving is a powerful way to make a lasting impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities in our community. By including LIFE Mower County in your long-term financial or estate plans, you ensure that our programs and services continue to thrive for future generations. Here are several ways you can support us through planned giving:

  • Bequests: Including LIFE Mower County in your will or trust is one of the simplest ways to make a planned gift. You can designate a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or a particular asset. Bequests are flexible and can be changed at any time, ensuring that your wishes align with your values.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities: A charitable gift annuity allows you to make a donation and, in return, receive fixed payments for life. Upon your passing, the remaining funds will be distributed to LIFE Mower County. This option provides both financial security and the satisfaction of knowing you're making a significant contribution.
  • Beneficiary Designations: You can name LIFE Mower County as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, or investment accounts. This option is simple to arrange — often by completing a beneficiary designation form — and allows you to avoid potential estate taxes.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts: With a charitable remainder trust, you can transfer assets into a trust that pays you income during your lifetime or a set term. Afterward, the remainder goes to support LIFE Mower County. This is an effective way to provide for your loved ones while supporting a cause close to your heart.
  • Stocks and Securities: Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can benefit both you and LIFE Mower County. By transferring these assets, you may avoid capital gains taxes and receive a charitable deduction, all while making a significant gift to our organization.
  • Real Estate Gifts: You can donate real estate, such as a home, vacation property, or undeveloped land, to LIFE Mower County. This option can provide substantial tax benefits, including avoiding capital gains taxes and receiving a charitable tax deduction.
  • Endowments: An endowment gift ensures that your support for LIFE Mower County will continue in perpetuity. The principle of the gift remains intact, while the income generated is used to support our programs and services year after year.
  • IRA Charitable Rollovers: If you're 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your IRA to LIFE Mower County. This counts toward your required minimum distribution and helps you avoid income taxes on the amount given.
  • Life Insurance: You can designate LIFE Mower County as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or transfer ownership of the policy to us. This is a great way to turn a modest annual payment into a substantial future gift.

By incorporating planned giving into your financial plans, you help ensure that LIFE Mower County can continue providing vital services and opportunities for people with diverse abilities. For more information on how to include us in your estate or financial plans, please contact us.
